Pole-Top Installation Programme

Compact instrument transformers selected to fit the confined space of existing pole-top switch frames.

Distribution Network

A national utility rolled out pole-top metering on thousands of distribution transformers and needed one standardised, compact instrument transformer set that would fit every frame configuration in the field.

The challenge

Pole frames varied between regions, and the programme budget ruled out custom tooling per configuration. The utility needed one footprint that fitted the tightest frame, weatherproofed for coastal and desert regions alike, and simple enough for crews to install without special training.

Our solution

We supplied a single compact family of indoor and outdoor transformers with standardised fixing centres, plus a pole-top assembly kit (bracket, bolts, earth strap and labels) so every installation followed the same sequence. Factory routine tests were batched and each crate shipped with its own documentation set.

Products supplied

Compact indoor and outdoor current transformers and voltage transformers in the 3–12 kV class with 0.5S metering and 10P10 protection cores, pole-top assembly kits, and installation documentation per region.

Outcome

The programme hit its installation rate target in the first quarter, with zero rejected units and a fit rate of 100% across all regional frame types. Crew training was reduced to a single half-day session.
