A utility moving to prepaid and automated billing needed outdoor revenue metering cabinets that would survive the substation yard, resist tampering, and give meter readers a secure way to read and service the meters.
The challenge
Existing metering points used meter boxes that were easy to open, and several sites reported tampered seals and bypassed meters. The new cabinets had to be sealable, weatherproof to IP54 or better, and large enough for two electronic meters plus a data concentrator.
Our solution
We supplied stainless-steel outdoor cabinets with a separate, sealable meter compartment, armoured secondary cabling, an observation window for meter reading without opening, and cable entries designed to resist bypass attempts. Each cabinet shipped with a wiring diagram and a seal register.

Stainless-steel outdoor metering cabinets (IP55) with V/V connected CTs and VTs, armoured secondary cable assemblies, observation windows and locking systems compatible with the utility's seal standards.
Outcome
Tampering incidents at the retrofitted sites dropped to zero in the first year, and the observation windows cut meter-reading time by more than half. The utility standardised the cabinet for all new metering points.
